Moyo lacerated all four fingers whilst attempting to climb over a barbed wire fence. The Modified Synergistic Flexor Tendon rehabilitation protocol was applied along with intensive rehabilitation. He regained full functional use of his hand.

This musician has a normal presentation of a hyper-extended IP joint of the thumb. However; the laxity at this joint is causing increased pain. The splint prevents hyperextension of the thumb IP joint thus providing support and reducing pain without limiting function

Cassi was participating in an inter-school athletics competition when she stumbled over a hurdle and sustained a postero-lateral fracture dislocation and medial epicondyle avulsion fracture of the left elbow, which required surgery. Cassi received intensive rehabilitation, including splinting of the elbow and wrist. Cassi regained full range of motion of her elbow and strength in her upper limb, and returned to her sporting activities.

Matthew sustained a metacarpal fracture and presented with severe stiffness of the little finger eight months after the injury. He attended three sessions over a four week period and was able to make a full fist at the end of his treatment.

 

 

Dupuytren’s Disease

Michael presented with severe stiffness in the hand following a Dupuytren’s Fasciectomy. Following on from traditional therapy, the Casting Motion to Mobilise Stiffness (CMMS) technique was used to regain full finger flexion and strength in the hand.

Lara dislocated her finger playing netball and only presented to therapy six months later once she had developed a fixed flexion deformity of the finger. Serial casting was used to regain full extension of the finger. A variety of hand therapy techniques were used to restore digital flexion.
